The ensemble Lento Ad Astra was founded in June 2011, when pianist Zita Sopková and saxophonist Erik Rothenstein decided to use their previous musical experience and try to realize several concerts together. They first concentrated on classical alto saxophone repartoire. Gradually, however, they focused on literature for baritone saxophone. Whether they are transcriptions of Johann Sebastian Bach’s cello preludes or original compositions, the performers try to engage with their own input and exploration of new possibilities. This chamber ensemble brings a new concept and freshness while maintaining a high level of performance quality.
